What do be a Personal Trainer?
11/09/16 Cedar City, UT
Wanting to find a short career into the field that you want to purse should be the first step in getting there. For me it was become a personal trainer, getting one-one expertise before taking a step in to become a coach and more of a director role. With attending Southern Utah University they have a required program in with each student must create/ do a project to give them the EDGE to the traditional learning.
As my Edge project I chose to become a personal trainer. To begin I had to choose with organization I was going to become certified, in my case the NSCA (National Strength and Condition Association). Next step was finding out what I need to from NSCA which was be 18 yrs. and older, have a high school diploma, become CPR/AED certified, and pay their fee of $300. After that was came the hardest part which was studying for test and then taking a 140 question test under 3 hours.
In the Edge center their mission is to engage students in a “personalized and rigorous experiential education.” They do this by having three different classes the first one is to prepare them for the adventure and an overview of the program, next is to commit to project and start with planning, and after the project is done is to report and reflect. To simplify it goes like this prepare, explore, commit, complete and reflect. They also have a center in which they can drop by at any time even if you are not taking the class. ###
