PROJECTS
During my first years as college student I was unsure where I wanted to be, who I wanted to be, or what plan/ goals I had for the future. Two things were for sure I want a career in sport/fitness, and I wanted to have Bachelor’s degree.  In my last years of college I had made up my mind that I wanted to be a strength & condition coach. As part of my goal and plan I decide to become a personal trainer to have experience in training individuals.
During my project
To become a personal trainer you must be certified thought an accredit organization. There are many out there like NSCA, ACE, NASM, ACSM, certain university offer them, and even if you work at a major gym can also offer it through their own training. I chose the National Strength and Condition Association (NSCA). Their requirements were to have a high school diploma or GED, have or plan to have a CPR/ AED certification one year after you take your NSCA exam, and pay a $300 for members or $435 for non-members
My Reflection
During my studies to prepare in taking the personal training exam, it was a lot of review since most of my classes I had taken such as human anatomy, exercise physiology, biomechanics, and strength and condition help me in advance to take the exam. I still have to go own to learn more on the legal aspects of the becoming a personal trainer. Even taking practice test I was unsure if I was ready. But as time to closer I just had to take it and did better than what I have ordinal thought. One thing that did surprise me was how you could not use a calculator, in my studies I had always used one to figure our BMI and convert lbs. in to kg. So if I could do it again I would practice not using a calculator because that really took me by surprise during the test.
